I almost listed all the Thrice albums but I think putting the ones I did on there suffice.

I still firmly believe "When You Were Young" to be one of the best hit singles of the decade. | Forreal. One of the few albums I can listen to and enjoy every song on. Now I kind of want to change its placement on my list... |

| For my own part, the one consistent thing I can see about my list (other than that every album on there falls under either metal, hardcore, post-rock or ambient with a couple indie albums thrown in) is that every single album on there, except maybe Thrice and Arcade Fire, I didn't like all that much at first at first. All of my favourite albums seem to be records that weren't love at first sight. With a few of them (Rosetta, Ohana), I had to see the band live before I became all that interested in their music. |

| Great call on Dirty Three's Cinder. That was on my honorable mention list for sure. |

| I love that band so much. So much passion. My favourite track from it is "She Passed Through". I just love the way it unfolds. |

| My Dark Twisted Fantasy on Adam K's list is from 2010, unfortunately. |

I think I posted mine earlier. | I don't feel like there is a lot that deserves honorable mention. It was the weakest decade rock and roll has had, at least since the lp became standard. And that hurts me to admit considering the 00s was and will be the prime of my concert-going life. The problem is that the heavyweights of that decade did not show consistency. There are no 2-3 classic album runs to speak of as in other decades. Looking back, I realize that a band would get my hopes up by dropping a classic, and follow it up with albums that were much more mediocre (see: the strokes, wilco). You cant look back and say "oh the 00s belonged to such and such". It was just marred by too much inconsistency. Thats not to say that I am not grateful for the amazing things I did witness in person, but it never really fully clicked as a cohesive period of music.
One honorable mention: blur - think tank |

| As a footnote to my previous post, I would like to say that on a more positive note, I think this decade is off to a strong start. We've already had extremely strong albums dropped by kanye, lcd soundsystem (who is done, sadly), and deerhunter to name a few. Also I have high hopes for sleigh bells after seeing them at bonnaroo. And vampire weekend is just getting started, imo. Right now I have an optimistic outlook on the immediate future of music. |
