| Final Fantasy 7 ***********************
FORGOT TO MENTION: SPOILERS WILL ABOUND HEREIN. IF YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED THE GAME, GO BUY IT IMMEDIATELY, PLAY IT, THEN COME BACK.
***********************
I introduced my wife to Final Fantasy 7 the other day and just start re-playing it myself (for maybe the 4th time?). Still the best game ever.
Just saying.
On a somewhat macabre note, she named Aeris with the name we're planning to give our first daughter (if we ever have one). I haven't told her anything about the plot, so let's see how she feels about that choice later.
It's interesting to see how a newcomer experiences the plot. From early dialogue, she thinks Sephiroth is Aeris's former boyfriend. Which I guess kinda makes sense because Sephiroth is almost only mentioned in a positive way up til now and Zack (or anyone else from SOLDIER) isn't mentioned at all.

| Excellent story. Great characters. Suspense. Horror. Comedy. Raunchiness. Tenderness. Oh yeah, it's got it all. Plus a cool battle system, great magic, the fun of coming up with new materia combinations. All the mini-games and side quests.

Bob: I have beaten the game 14 times. That should tell you enough about how I feel about it.

| I never finished it. The pacing was horrible. Any game that forces you to grind levels is not worth my time or yours. It's a waste of precious time that could be spent doing something useful, productive, or at least fun.
I got to the last disc and then found that I was a good 10 levels below where I needed to be. KOTR may be great, but it takes SO long to cast that it sucks the fun away from every single battle. Leveling with KOTR is no better than just brawling through the levels.
HOWEVER --
If you have a good PSX emulator and the disc images (I do), you can play through the game with much less pain and suffering. For example, you can use game shark codes if you don't want to grind for 10 hours. You can assign a timing button so that whenever you use KOTR you can hit the space bar (or whatever) to increase the framerate by a factor of 4.
I still haven't beaten the game, but I have hope that at some point in the future I might. That said, I think VI, IX, and X all had better pacing and gameplay, VI had a better story, and IX was better in every way. X was inferior overall, but at least it was more fun to play from start to finish.

| Grinding is fun.
Grinding with KOTR would be silly though.
I guess it has to do with your temperament. I enjoy watching enemies die and my stats go up. Quote:
