Taylor Guitars

Anbody ever own a Taylor 114ce? I might buy one within a month...really excited to get my hands on the fretboard. I plan to play a G chord first with the strumming pattern down, down up

No seriously anybody know if this is a good guitar for playing Christian and Gospel?

Any guitar is good for playing Christian and Gospel.

Taylors are fashionable in US Christian circles, as are McPhersons if you have LOADS of money.

Here it's Avalon & Lowden.......

The 114 is a decent entry level model. I say if Taylor is your thing save up a little extra and get a 214, you can find them used for a good price. It's got more room to grow into.

If you really want a good guitar for a great price, Seagull s6 is what you want.

I've never played a 114 so I really can't comment.

I have a 414 and it is one the best guitars I've ever played.

I believe you have never played a taylor before. try one and see. To begin with, you cant really go wrong with the taylor name. The customer service is great and the guitars are built to be beautiful and play well all at once. Also, and this is what turns me on about them is the neck. I have small hands and those guitars have action like an electric. I would almost compare it to a gibson 60's slim neck. Again try one then feel free to fall in love good luck with your purchase

The 114ce is a nice guitar, very suitable for worship. Taylors tend to have a brighter sound, so they do a nice job of "sticking out" in the mix since everyone is competing for the mids. I have a Taylor GS Mini and I love this little simple, no frills guitar.

The 114 will probably get you the down down up you desire. I think Taylors are generally designed with G chords in mind. The combination of the chord and strum pattern on that guitar might just be the holy grail of tone.

Ha, yeah I played the 114 and wow, I sounds beautiful compared to my yamaha. I don't know where I could get a 214 around here so I'm just going to keep looking.

The 114, from what I've heard, is kind of the Poor mans Taylor. If you're going to get a Taylor, save up a little more and go for the 214 CE, like me. Its AMAZING! The BEST guitar I have EVER played. The mids are bright like no other guitar I have ever experienced!

I owned a '75 Martin D28 - bought it new. I did a straight trade for a Taylor 814 (1996) and love it. The sound isn't as bassy, but the action and brightness more than make up for it.

I have a Taylor 312ce. The body is smaller than the 314ce, but I do a lot of finger picking. So a smaller body is what I use. If you are just doing strumming, then yeah, a 14 instead of a 12 would be a better fit. The guys are right though, the 214 is a better guitar. You can get it out of places like musicians friend if no one has a shop near you. You can return it if you don't like it. But chances are, you will. Unless you like a more low end sound...which Martin acoustics are more suitable for, in my opinion.

Don't forget the GS Models (x16). The ones I have played sounded fantastic. I have been seriously considering trading in my 414ce and getting a 416ce. Especially considering that I mostly strum.

That's pretty much all I play...and it does sound great on my Taylor.
