| That acoustic guitar makes me think: barf. It's possibly the most contentious description of a guitar aesthetic of late but I genuinely think that given that guitar to play, a lot of people may be reluctant due to the looks.
Also, +1 for not liking elixers. |

I'm so glad I chose the Martin, but I'm also glad I opted for the Fishman soundhole pickup I bought..I find that when I hear people playing acoustic guitars amplified in a live setting it largely sounds percussive, with the notes played taking back seat to the pick noise. In comparison, my Martin+fishman sings out the notes clearly.
I've had more than one person go out and buy the exact same guitar as mine after playing it and deciding it was the best acoustic they'd ever played. And it's one of the cheaper Martin models, a 000X1, with laminate back and sides. |

| THIS is the guitar I would love to own next. Probably not going to happen...not for a while.
But a guy can dream...can't he? |

| Interesting comments about the elixir strings. I have always thought they were a selling point for the Taylors. Not because of the brand, but because of their longevity. Most guitars sit on the racks for months, and the elixirs always seem to hold up. I have found the converse to be true for most Martin guitars (yay, a Martin vs. Taylor thread hijack). They always sound dead at the store to me. That was why my first pricey guitar purchase was a Taylor. It just sounded and played so much better at the store than anything else in its price range. |

| Taylors and Martins are good acoustics but I'm too low on the food chain to afford them. I have found that Takamines are pretty decent especially in the electronics department. I haven't played Taylors or martins pushed through an amp but just strumming the strings on a high end martin the sound is heavenly. I don't think recording equipment or amplification does a Martin justice. The high end Talor just plays easily like an electric. awesome comfort. If I could afford a high end acoustic I wouldn't consider either one of them. There are nicer acoustics like Collings, Mcpherson,Santa Cruz and so on. For worship I think that 100 and 200 serise Taylors, plywood Martins, Washburn, Seagull and so on would be acceptable. |

Ok, so I'm not a fan of the aesthetic. I'm just about coming round to SG shapes for electrics, but the double cutaway acoustic is beyond the limits of my taste preferences. I'm sure it's well made, but I still don't like it. Call me old fashioned, but I like more classic looking guitars. I'm not even that bigger fan of single cutaway acoustics. |

| It has always and continues to be my opinion that the sound Taylor's emit is that of a toy, even more so when amplified. I much prefer the Breedloves in that price range. |

It may not be to your liking, but to call it sounding like a toy is plain stupid! |

| Easy now, easy....there are many posters here who feel the same as you, and many that don't. Not everyone will agree.
I forgot to mention this. Last week I happened upon this high end guitar shop in town that I had never known existed. They had some R Taylor Guitars. If you don't know what R Taylor is, well, neither did I. Apparently its Taylor's ultra-high end all hand made by the same luither using the best materials and techniques. Absolutely beautiful guitar. Couldn't wait to play it, and after begging the sales man, I did. Had that exact same top-heavy plastic-like quality to it as I hear in their other models. It's juts their niche. Cuts through a mix well I guess. It's just not very warm. Still...for 6 or 7k I'd expect more.
This is the one I played... R Taylor Style 1 Acoustic Guitar The Guitar Sanctuary | McKinney, Texas | Dallas | macassar ebony
