Harry Potter en español

Yes, it's as fantastic as it is in English . Granted, I've only read part of the third book so far, but I'm enamored.

Anyone else read the HP series in another language? What was your take?

I read the first book (for the first time) in German.

I guess I have nothing to compare it to, but on its own, it was enjoyable.

Have you read it in English, too? If so, how do you think it compared? Was it the same feel?

If you enjoyed it in German, I'd recommend it in English. Rowling has a great writing style. It'd be interesting to hear your thoughts on a side-by-side comparison more or less .

I suppose if I ever get the urge to read it again, I'll do it in English, but... if I plan to read the whole series in German... reading it again in English is heck of a lot of time to re-read.

Are we counting English here as the original UK English, or the American English? :P

Definitely understood! I loved it enough to read it in English several times (except the 7th, which I've only read once), but a lack of time has practically eliminated that from ever happening again, ha.

I read the first couple in French. It made me laugh how they changed the names of some of the characters, but not others. And yes, I loved it just as much.

I'm a fan of using them as side-by-side reading in which I have an English and Spanish translation both so that I can practice my Spanish and check my mental translation with the English if I'm unsure of it.

I read the four 1st book in English and the 6th too (English UK).
I read the first in German,
But at first, I read all in French...
I think my favourite was the original version, in English... maybe because I dicovered a lot of expressions, or because in French it is not a great literature, but in English I don't know all subtilities and it looks so fantaastic...
and when I read the 6th in English, it was not edited in French yet... so I knew the story before all my friends, and I was so happy to understand almost everything, without know the story...
