I was going to try to have him do 4 preamps with an EL34 power amp. And I can get all the preamp schematics online. The power stage might be difficult, though.

Guitars
Ibanez ARX320 (the best LP copy under $1000, IMO)
Starcaster Strat by Fender (I was told not to get rid of my first guitar)
Ibanez AEF18E (great bright acoustic)

Amps
Line 6 Spider III 75 (use it as a base for pedals)

FX
Line 6 M13 (I take it for granted most of the time)

Scared me to ever think of trying to build it.
Eric and I attempted it. You know how that turned out.

Instead of trying to get an amp that does both British and US sounds, my personal preference is to get two amps, one for each. That way you can also run them both at the same time.

If an amp has too many features, I'm liable to just find one feature that I like and eschew all the others.
