Placing an aggrissive dog in a new home

We have two dogs and one is extremely aggressive. She hasn't bitten any one yet. Even when she's friendly, she's aggressive -- jumping up on people etc. Unfortunately, I am the only one in the family that actually enjoys working with the dogs and I'm gone all the time. A neighbor came over the other day to tell us that on a few occasions when our dogs have gotten loose that they have harassed his family (mostly the collie of course). So it's not safe to let them out of the back yard and that kind of confinement will only make her behavior worse. We feel the best course of action is to see if we can find someone equipped and willing to train her that will take her in. We're thinking craigslist, the local news paper etc. Anyone have any luck with this sort of thing or any other ideas? Thanks.

Contact your vet to let them know you need to rehome your dog. Is it a particular breed? If so, most breeds have rescue groups. Look in your yellow pages for a Kennel Club.

I would have trouble giving a dog away blindly without knowing anything about where they are going. I may get flamed for this, but I'd rather have a dog put down than to send them into some of the horrors I've read about.

Good luck. It's hard when dogs don't fit in the family. It happens, and it's nobody's fault.
