| I doubt it helps, but I for electric I use a boost into my ac30. If I'm feeling fancy I'll throw in a delay. But, I'm a minimalist.

However, because of the context of this thread, I figured we were talking about P&W artists. I've never heard Hillsong United, Matt Redman or Jesus Culture on local secular pop radio, because they're making music that is marketed towards and really written for the church. | Ahhh.. I'm sorry, my bad. Someone said previously "Comtemporary Christian" and i thought the topic was broadened. My fault, my bad
Of course, It also doesn't help when i word things the wrong way either LOL

It's not a bad thing as long as it's not obsessive. I spent time playing overdrives that i saw they had in common (ie Fulldrive, RC Booster, Timmy, etc) until I found the combination I liked. Compressors were the same way; went through 5 or 6 before I found 'the one'. Volume pedal is pretty standard, Ernie Ball VP Jr b/c they seem to last. Tuner used to be standard, Boss TU2 b/c it's accurate and acts as a nice buffer, but now the strobostomp and polytune seem more popular. When it comes to Modulation and Delay, you just have to figure out what you want it to do and find that particular piece (or pieces) of gear. I had 4 different delays (like Daniel and most of the Hillsong guys) for a long time, and finally got tired of it and got an M9 b/c what it does is what I need. The Boss RV5 is the standard for mod reverb right now.
What gear do you already have? Especially amp and guitar. We may be able to ID some specific effects that would fit well with your setup. | I run either my Gibson Les Paul Standard Faded or Fender Jimmie Vaughan Sig Strat through a TC Electronic Polytune, a Crybaby, a Tim, a Russian Big Muff, a Boss Super Chorus, an MXR Phase 90, and an MXR Carbon Copy all into my Egnater Rebel 30 112 combo. I can get a bunch of sounds out of my rig, it just sounds better for rock rather than contemporary Christian music. I was just curious if there were some pedal solutions to be more church friendly instead of Led Zeppelin and AC/DC. |
