| Related note: Apple's gonna charge me $25 a year to be able to listen to music that I already own?
No thanks. |

| Meh. I don't see any reason I need this.
In other words, Apple still hasn't won me over.

No thanks. | no. that's not it.
the $25 a year will look at the music you already own (rather didn't get from the iTunes store) and give you rights to it on the iTunes store to download to any device of yours as much as you want. |

| It's still reselling me music that I already own.
Why should I pay Apple $25 a year to do something that I could do with a flash drive and twenty minutes? |

| whatever you download from itunes store is 256kbps. if you have music that is encoded at 128 (and acquired from places other than the iTunes store) you can redownload the music at 256k |

| The reason I won't download from iTunes is their low bitrate- Maybe it's just me but I have a hard enough time listening to audio that's compressed to 320kCBR anymore.
So, I can take my entire legal music collection and re-buy a lower quality version from iTunes for $25/year? Don't blame me for not running to sign up.
Aside from that, I've got a ton of friends who were charged a renewal for mobileMe within 48 hours of the announcement. You'd figure that Apple would not charge for the next year of a service they're discontinuing and rolling out a free one, but no. Got to collect that money! These are my hardcore Apple fans and they're actually pissed about it (though not as much as I would be... I'd have a hard time not sending ipod chunks to apple...). |

| Incoming hipster alert: WEEOOOWEEOOO
But a lot of my music comes from local bands that aren't on iTunes. So there's that. |

| a nice feature for existing apple customers who have perhaps never heard of big fancy words like cloud computing. and not a real reason to use apple over others, but perhaps another reason for snobbish apple fanboys to continue staying isolated from the cutting edge of the technological world. |
