| I have yet to get Microsoft Office 2010 to install via Wine, though. When I can get Office, Adobe (all my adobe apps) and my games to run through Wine, then I'll switch permanently. I'm looking into GNU as well as Ubuntu, as they both have good support. |

Does anyone else remember what early screenshots of xp/vista looked like? Nothing remotely akin to the final OS.

| Windows XP for the win!!!!!!!!! I'm actually using Vista right now, and I don't get why people hate on it.
Also, was the guy using that like a touchscreen the whole time? So why wouldn't that be a tablet?

And I am dead serious. There were a few valid critiques, but vista was rock solid and was exactly what geeks and consumers said they wanted.

| Vista was a good OS for me. I got it about half way through its cycle, and by that point it was long since rock solid.
I got 7 at the beginning of its cycle, and it is wonderful. |

| Vista was, and is, much more of a resource hog than any other Windows desktop OS. And yes, Vista had quite a few showstopper bugs that were eventually solved, but by then, people just stayed away from it. Once you get a really bad reputation, it's hard to recover, hence moving on to 7. Most of the haters of Vista loved 7 right from the Beta, including myself.

Most problems with that were obsolete machines running aero.

| I'm a bandwagon lover, and I hated Vista. XP is awesome, I've got it on a netbook and even though it's nearing a decade old (the program, not the netbook) it's still awesome. And Win7 is the bomb. Seriously. Just works, and that's awesome.
Vista's problem was it was a resource hog, and so unfriendly that the average user couldn't just go in and make the necessary adjustments. Then, someone like me goes in and makes the adjustments and you still have to deal with the constant crashes and compatibility problems.
I worked on macs for years....I'd rather twist my leg off at the knee than go that route again....

| Vista and 7 have basically the same reasource requirements and same compatability.
I too moved to vista about a year before 7 (so late in the cycle), but found it a generally good OS. |

| Apple FTW! haha
I think this new Win 8 interface is kinda cool. We'll see how it plays out and what the final version is. Though i'm probably sticking w/ Apple. |
