New ricks are still a heck of a lot less than you said. But I am of the opinion that a new guitar is seldom any better than a used, particularly on ones like a rick, I prefer older guitars. Wood ages and I find that most of the guitars I like the tone of best are old. Not vintage, popular years, but just older guitars. They seem to me to have a definite tendency to sound nicer to me. Thus, in my opinion it nearly always pays to go for a used guitar. Cheaper, and sounds better is a combo I will go with any day.
