Is this bad?

The bridge on my acoustic is seperated from the body by about half a centimeter on the lower half. Is this bad, and if it is can it easily be fixed or not?

It's not good, but it's not uncommon and it should be easily fixed with the right glue and the proper clamps.
I'm sure other folks here will have more detailed info and instructions for you.

it's PROBABLY fixable. in the meantime get the tension off the strings until someone can look at it for you.

dunno about THIS forum, but a lot need you to have a minimum number of posts before you can post pics. helps keep the spammers under control......

anyway, here's the pic.....

clamping a bridge as the glue dries needs a specialist clamp that can reach all that way. you'd be better to take it to a tech and get them to glue it back down for you.

if it was mine, i'd wick some regular wood glue in there and clamp it overnight.

but then I DO have the clamps!

yeah man it's an easy overnight fix, but you gotta get it to the right person, or have the right tools. but definitely get the strings loose, and don't mess with it, you don't want to be tearing the whole bridge off

I HAVE cobbled together a long reach clamp (for a doubleneck acoustiic bridge)

no pics so I'll TRY to describe it.

two long beams, touching at one end with a clamp pushing the middle in.

think eyebrow tweezers with a clamp in the middle......

This guy is pretty ingenious I don't think I'd do that to a good guitar but for one that is worth less than the repair, why not?
