Can we eliminate some forums?

Well, can we?

I would like to put forward the motion that we merge all of the forums into the old Lord of The Rings forum and refer to the thread as "The Before Times".

Seconded.

You have any specific ones in mind Jon?

I'm going to preemptively disagree with the suggestions of Theology and Current Events.

I would also like to suggest that we change everybody's avy's to post-apocalyptic world/road warrior style avy's and start wars over the drying resources of UCs.

The thing is, sometimes forums are helpful because they give people ideas of what to talk about.

Do we need a Collectibles forum? I mean, do we really?

Why not? What's your reason for eliminating it?

Well, this site just has over 100 forums. It seems like merging forums that are rarely used would reduce clutter, and serve to alleviate the "I don't know what's topical enough" problem...

I definitely think there are some forums that don't really seem to serve much of a purpose. In the case of the Collectibles forum, there has been seven pages worth of posts since the beginning (2001). In only had three active threads in the entirety of 2010. I'm not saying that those numbers should necessarily be the definition of "dead forum", but I certainly think some sort of criteria could be developed.

Okay, I think I completely agree with you now, based solely on the fact that I've never seen that forum before about a minute ago.

I had a suggestion a while back that some people thought was helpful, but I don't remember what it was.
