| I like to do things in blocks. I find when I work on one subject for a while, I get into the mindset of that subject, which sets me up to learn and understand a lot more from that subject than if I just briefly do a homework assignment. If I switch back and forth between subjects constantly, it doesn't allow the subject material to "stew" in my head and I end up with a worse understanding of everything.
The tricky part with this is having the ability to know what order to do things in so that you get everything done on time. Sometimes you will have to stop a project part way through to work on another assignment that's more pressing (especially when you have big projects) but as much as possible I try to do homework in blocks.

If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Even if there is only one possible unified theory, it is just a set of rules and equations. What is it that breathes fire into the equations and makes a universe for them to describe? The usual approach of science of constructing a mathematical model cannot answer the questions of why there should be a universe for the model to describe. - Stephen Hawking |
