Ball room and Latin American Dancing

I don't know whether ballroom and Latin American Dancing can be classified as a sport?? but I have started with classes almost 6 months ago and having fun. The prices are a bit steep though, but I'm doing something I enjoy and meeting lots of people in the process...It also keeps me fit and gives me loads of energy.

I would say if curling and billiards are sports then ball room dancing is too if it's done competitively. If it's not done competitively I'd say it still could be qualified as a "fitness activity". Doesn't really matter, as long as you're enjoying it call it what you want. One of these days when I have a regular schedule I'm going to take ball room dancing lessons with my wife.

I had to take a physical ed class in college once and ballroom dancing was the only class available. I took it. It was a job. I think tennis or long distance swimming would have been easier. I used to be able to tango though. Now I only tangle.

I am not really at the point of doing it competitively, but I would really consider it in the near future, when my finances look a bit better.....at the moment I would be too strapped for cash to buy the outfits and stuff and who would want to not eat just to take part in a competition LOL!

So I guess at the moment it is just a hobby, but I'm enjoying every minute of it (including the tango lol) and it's nice to learn the history of a dance and where it originates and to meet new people.....it's absolute enjoyment and sometimes I wish I had a boyfriend that could join me, because there are couples that attend of course and they are looking as if they are having a blast everytime.

Anyhow, thanks for all your responses - much appreciated. Have a blessed week.

ciao!!
