NPD: Boss FDR-1

fdr-1_full.jpg

So yesterday I was browsing the local guitar shop near my work. It has been about a year since I went in there and I am always on the lookout for things we may need at church. I was looking in the display case when I saw a brand new looking Boss FDR-1. These pedals sell for over $100. It was on consignment and was only asking $60. So I picked it up. I figured if I did not like it I could sell it on eBay or here.

It sounds pretty good but I am having trouble incorporating it into my chain. Does anyone have any experience with these?

I've read some cool stuff about them. If I recall, somebody on here said it was the only boss pedal that they have ever liked. This or the bassman one...

i've some some mixed revews of this pedal, i once was interested in buying one...

pros:
-i hear this pedal features decent sounding overdrive with good equalization options and rich texas tones
-warm tremelo (boss mislabeled it as vibrato)
-pedal is made to work well with solidstate amps

cons:
-the "spring reverb emulation" is the worst soudning reverb in a pedal ever produced according to guitar player magazine
-unreliable buffer in the pedal..tone sucker, only a "musically trained" ear will notice this though
-pedal will not sound good through all tube amps (especially fender) due to the pedal's high freqeuncies.

you got it for a good price, personally i don't like anything with the label COSM as it is digital modeling processing opposed to analog. the only COSM product i've owned thus far and actually use happily still is the FRV-1 reverb but to each his own. i hope you enjoy your pedal, let us know how you like it!(:

Just for clarity, Boss didn't mislabel the pedal, they just copied what Fender mislabeled decades ago. Call it, "authentic", haha.
