| why did you join, why do you stay? I was actually looking for political discussion with a Christian slant. I was just googling different ideas and ran across CGR. I still participate in that, but I stay mostly for the guitar and gear information I gather and from time to time I go to CPF and act like a fool which can be quite liberating for an old man. Also, and this might be most important, I appreciate the prayers and support of the members when needed. |

| I had previously been part of a Sacramento Kings message board. This was, of course, when the Kings were actually good. It became quite an unproductive time suck, so I left it.
So, I found myself one day looking for the chords for Breathing by Lifehouse. At the time, the front page had a "last five posts" thing on the front page, and one of the most recent posts was about "Big Shot Rob", which is Robert Horry, who had the day before made a 3 pointer to beat the Kings in a playoff game. I did not like this, so I decided to check it out and rebut it. I made a few posts as an unregistered user. After a couple of days, I registered.
It turned out that I was at a point of my life that I really needed the community. I ended up sticking around in the sports forum for a while, then branched out to check out the rest of the site.
I stayed because it turned out that I needed CGR. The members here include most of my closest friends, and the people who have helped me through the roughest and loneliest times of my life.
Now, I stick around to maybe make new friends, continue to enjoy the ones I already have, and help kind of run the place. Also, I have to keep posting to ensure that nobody overtakes my post count. |

| I was looking for tabs for some songs.
I had also been participating in a Transformers-themed forum for a while, which had been a place of healing and support during the darkest period of my life. So when I saw that CGR had forums, I checked them out. I wasn't really going to join, until I noticed that the Theology section was overrun by Calvinists who were heaping disparagement on someone named BillSPrestonEsq and a few other Arminians. Well, since I was (at the time) rabidly anti-Calvinistic, and Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure is my favorite movie of all time, I had to join the fray and defend people like Bill and Superman against people like mustbenothing (Chrysostom) and Luke.
Then I went over to the dark side.
I've stayed over the years because this is a really great community, and I've made lots of friends here.
Also, I've tried to participate in theological discussion elsewhere inside the internets, and frankly, CGR does it better.
I'm DEAD serious. |

| I have to say, for all of the abuse Theology has taken, it has definitely done a LOT to help me grow up as a Christian. Bible College was certainly more useful for learning Theology, but CGR has been far more useful in learning to apply it to my life. |

| I don't remember really either reason. I came, I saw, I conquered. And the rest as they say, is the rest.

| I, too, was just looking for the chords to some song. Probably a Lifehouse song, actually.
I've kind of come and gone since 2002, though. I have two other usernames because each time I came back I couldn't remember my username or password. Except this time.
I stay because I like the people. They've been good friends even when I feel like my life is blowing up around me. And they continue to be good to me even though I completely disappeared for over two years with hardly any contact with anyone.

| Looking for tabs and chord sheets. Found the Forum eventually, I think it was some Star Wars and LotR arguments that made me register.
Stayed for the people, and the discussions. Some of the best people ever are on here. |

| I think I was looking for something Christian and guitar related and then I found this place. Then I joined. Then I met Lebomon in CPF. Then I laughed out load (in my head). Then I decided that this is the place I belong. |

| i was looking for the tab to a song called made perfect by three cord wonder, and CGR was the only place on the internet that had it. i noticed there was a forum, but i didn't do much with it because i was an active member in the forums over at ultimate-guitar.com
eventually i was banned from UG and i was all like i'm bored, i need a forum, so i remembered cgr, i came over here and signed up and started reading, and meeting people, the first guy i meet was leboman, and then roscoestring and then others, now i'm so glad i'm here with my internet family thats why i stay because everyone here is so helpful for WHATEVER thing i need help with, guitar, personal, family, or even just some funnay.
i plan to be here for many years to come, and like to meet new people that actually start and become involved with more than their intro thread. |
