I had a Tele clone whose setup didn't put enough string-pressure on the bridge saddles. I shimmed the neck to angle it back a little - that meant a bigger saddle height and more pressure - bingo, more punch and sustain. I've got a lot of respect for MIM Fenders and wouldn't go spending money on new parts straight off.

+1 on the pickup adjustments, with the extra note that the best sound isn't always with the pickups as high as they'll go.

Yeah, that was the whole reason for the individual adjustable saddles.

That being said, some like the stock-look of the brass saddles and tough it out with less than perfect intonation at times. I've never intoned a 3-saddle before so I can't say it's an impossibility, but SOMEONE yelled loud enough to get a new system on the market.

There are compensated saddles that address this problem. They at least get you close. Who plays in tune anyways????

Sweet! Compensated brass barrels would do it, yeah?! That's exactly what I was thinking of when I was writing that... I thought, "I'm sure someone has produced these somewhere."
Keep that NOS "appearance" while you stay in tune... for those who care to.
