Yeah. I wasn't disagreeing with you, but just pointing out that usually vehicles that have poor factory equipment show more gains, rather than cars that are highly tuned to start with. And even a highly tuned engine like the S54 still showed major gains from a header change. It's quite perplexing that BMW would work so hard to tune that motor to do what it did.... then throw such an absolute garbage exhaust on it.

The 1986 Vette was a 5.7 liter that started at 230 horses. That works out to a specific output of 40.35 hp/liter. Lots of room for improvement when compared to a 3.2L six that's making 104.06 hp/liter.

Heck, my truck does 48.33 hp/liter. And the bike throws out 166.94.

The 4G63T guys see major gains with intake/exhaust/tune. But that's including screwing with the boost settings.....

I got my dad to do a driveby in my truck today so I could hear what the exhaust sounded like on the outside. I was very pleased with how it sounded. Hit the accelerator and get it up to 2000-3000rpm and it has a very aggressive bark to it. I could hear him coming from half a mile down the road. It still stinks a bit after I drive it a while, but I guess that's to be expected with a new exhaust system.

I second this. I still need to hear how my car sounds from the outside. I know it's pretty loud on the inside. I never realized how loud it was until I took people in it and was try to talk to them.

I'm going out of town this weekend for a ski trip. I'll get a video up with a driveby, in-cab noise, and a few revs when I get back. It sounds incredibly different inside than it does outside.

On a stock 1g, you'd probably see ~40-45 AWHP gain on a K&N filter and a full turboback, even without tweaking the boost (though you'd probably see 2-4psi of pressure increase due to backpressure reduction in the exhaust, fwiw).

Apparently IC pipes, intake, full exhaust and a tune on an Evo X are worth ~90-100 at the wheels.

So after 5 months, I finally found the time to make a video of my truck. Here it is, 5 months late.
