i have cable, but i only watch it for like an hour before bed... i think i could probably do without.

it hasnt been bad so bad so far. my wife and i watch the occasional show on hulu...but then again football season has officially come to a close.

That gives you several months to either give up football or find a sports bar. The choice is yours.

I watched the superbowl, crystal clear in HD at a friends house on a $35 powered antenna, so it could work.

Unless you're like my roomie and need to have DirecTV's NFL Sunday ticket so you can watch your out of market games (He's a Lions fan living in WA )

I actually made my antenna out of coat hangers after watching a video on youtube. Works great!

I haven't had cable TV for a good couple of years now, and generally don't miss it. Online rental services and/or free streaming services are simply much more practical for what I do want to watch. They offer broader selections than your basic cable, too, so it's really a win-win situation.
