Mark,

First let me say that I think its awesome your thinking in terms of sound quality of your worship services as a whole. Jesus deserves the best he enables us to give! My church doesn't own a guitar amp but that doesn't mean they wouldn't buy one ..... If they thought they needed it. The problem is that even a lot of guitar players are satisfied with less than stellar tone, so where does that leave the person that's not a guitar player but is in charge of the churches finances? There's nothing wrong with this IMO. The church with the producer pastor ... Knows and acts accordingly. Regardless the situation we should be responsible for obtaining the tone we like and feel would enhance the worship experience.

I'd say ask and give decisive reasons why. If they say yes ... Great! If not and it's within your power to do so get it. God put it on your heart no reason not to.
