New Acoustic-Electric Guitar

I'm in the market for my first acoustic-electric guitar (I already have a Fender Tele, and a Yamaha classical guitar). Any suggestions, I would like to stay in a $200-300 price range.

in your price range I'd BEG you to go used.

you can fix up a basic lelectric with a good set up to make it play pretty good, but acoustics have much less wriggle room in the setup. there are very few user adjustable areas. an experienced tech can pick up a "BAD" electric cheap and have a good electric in a couple of hours.

acoustics? you gotta have something good to start with.

a while back I played a Jay Turser which was £99 new. no electrics, but for the money it was a really good guitar. £23 would add an Artec preamp/ piezo combo. £50 would have got a tech to fit it, so it would still be well under budget.

but seriously, in your budget, you'll have to play a LOAD of guitars to find a diamond in the heaps of mud.

but the diamonds are there to be found!

I'd look for a seagull or art and lutherie used in that price range.

$300 will put you in the market for a used Seagull. A little more puts you into a new one like this...

Ok, I will definitely go used. My friend has a Seagull and it sounds amazing. I think I'll find out what my options are for that. Thanks for the ideas everyone.
