| how do i get a certain sound?? hey all i'm looking for advice on how to get a certain sound, like what i have to do effects wise, or playing style..
i'm thinking of those old rock bands from the late 60's early 70's, like hippie bands like bread or crosby stills and nash.. i want to get that high twangy sounding guitar, not country style but rock style if you listen to some bread it's a great example of what i'm shooting for. |

| Not sure if its true for the guys you want, but I've always been told that a lot of artists back then sound every one likes was the recording methods
not sure if you can remake that with doing what they did |

| A Telecaster and a,Vox AC30, that'll get you close. Are you talking Clarence White with the Byrds kind of sound? Perhaps Commander Cody and His Lost Airmen? Jeff Beck? Jimmy Page on Stairway to Heaven among other hits? If you are going for Keith Richards and then it's Fender Twin.
Twang=Telecaster |

| I think the EASIEST way would be to sample every note from every cd, catagorize them on your computer, then just string them together in whatever fashion you decide for the recording. Then for live playing, just turn up the treble and hope the audience can't differentiate between your sound and Bread's. If they can, just turn your volume up until you can't hear their criticisms on your sound.

| Good band, have played thier songs live. I tell ya, I like the versatility of my POD 2.0. My Strat, Les Paul, and Tele combined with the amp and fx chioces always get me close to the 70's acoustic rock sounds. To answer your question about the sounds, try this: single coil gtr on bridge, tone rolled down to about 6 or 7, vox or blackface amp model, short delay. slow chorus, lush reverb. All this is in the POD. Used on ebay about $100-$150. You can't get this much variety and great live/recordable sounds from many others. I see them in every studio I've been in. Even read where Liconl Brewster loves the Vox setting in the original 2.0 the best. |

Never underestimate the power of tube amps and single coils! Tube amps especially, that will make a world of difference in your tone.

| Audio A, you're really making me want a different amp. Maybe I can trade my amp in towards a tube amp.
