My new hooptie...

As a three-time Subaru owner, I had become quite loyal. The one unfortunate problem I found as I aged is that the cars they make are just not that comfortable. For my teaching gig, I have to travel quite a bit, and on the weekend I do not teach, I travel about 260 miles round trip to see my Mom. So, I decided that it was time for an upgrade on the comfort front. And while I was at it, I might as well upgrade everything else, too. This is the direction I went:

2004 Volvo S60 R

2004 Volvo S60 R 002

2004 Volvo S60 R 005

2004 Volvo S60 R 006

2010-12-10 Volvo S60 R 010

2010-12-10 Volvo S60 R 011

Specs:
All Wheel Drive
2.5L turbo inline 5 with Intercooler
300 HP
295 lb-ft Torque
0-60 in 5.5 seconds
Top speed 155 MPH (Governed)
25 HWY MPG
Blue leather interior
8 way adjustable power front seats
4 Disc in dash CD changer (Premium sound)
Integrated Bluetooth
Integrated Navigation system

It is by far the most comfortable car I have owned. It is probably the most comfortable I have ever been inside of. It is a couple of weeks later, and I am absolutely loving this car.

I'm not scared.

I have a service plan. $250 deductible.

Plus Juan.

For all the hysteria over Euro cars and their maintenance costs... I've yet to see any of this happen to anyone I know. It's always the "Well my friend had a....." sort of thing.

Well, you know me (somewhat) and I've got my own personal uber-expensive repair experience with the 240 GLT that I used to own. I loved everything about the car until it came time to maintain it.
It sucked away my nearly $1000 tax refund one year, so I sent it on it's way soon after.

I want to buy another, but not without getting a VERY GOOD service plan with it.

My first project is going to be to restore the trim to black. That will come soon. Maybe next week. I was thinking about changing out the head unit on the stereo with one that I had in the Subaru, but taking the dash apart showed me that what I want to achieve is simply not going to happen. Oh well, the stereo sounds amazing.

I want one of the V70R's in a 6 speed so badly!
Own a 98 V-90 and 89 740 Turbo wagon now.
Have you driven the new S60 with the 300 horse turbo 6 yet?

With now just over 157 K on her it drives runs and looks like it just rolled off the showroom. Handles better than most sports cars will eat long distances up like you won't believe and rides like a dream on the open road.
Now I doubt I will drive anything else.
Most think of Volvo's as grandpa cars. Bland and slow but---.
YouTube - wicked fast volvo
YouTube - Volvo 740 Turbo
might want to think twice about jumpin some of um!
A buddy of mine off Turbo Bricks just over in Montgomery. Jump on this ragged lookin 740 some time!

I do all my own work and can work on my 2 Volvo's normally for less in Part cost than I can my Wife's Chrysler 300! + I can actually get to stuff on my older rear drive cars.
A Volvo will still be running around about like it did when it was new when it has 300 + K on it . They are like cockroaches you can't kill um!

Find someone who can do a program it can do wonders for those. It's amazing how hard those cars run when they are tuned right !!
