I want to buy another, but not without getting a VERY GOOD service plan with it.
Might want to look at becoming a member on some of the Volvo forums bro. That 240 is one of the older rear drives that is old school and super simple to work on.
If you know where to buy parts parts cost on the older Volvos is very very low. I can buy parts for my 2 Volvos for less than I can buy parts for my wife's Chrysler 300!

For example I had the front stabilizer bar links wear out on my 98 V-90. The local shop wants $300 for the job. I go to Ebay and pay less than $30 for the pair of Sway Bar links shipped and it takes me 20 minutes to replace um. There is an AMAZING network of parts suppliers and such for the older "real" (as in pre Ford ownership ) Volvos!!
Why do tyou think there are SO many of them still on the road?

2004 Volvo S60 R

Specs:
All Wheel Drive
2.5L turbo inline 5 with Intercooler
300 HP
295 lb-ft Torque
0-60 in 5.5 seconds
Top speed 155 MPH (Governed)
25 HWY MPG
Blue leather interior
8 way adjustable power front seats
4 Disc in dash CD changer (Premium sound)
Integrated Bluetooth
Integrated Navigation system

It is by far the most comfortable car I have owned. It is probably the most comfortable I have ever been inside of. It is a couple of weeks later, and I am absolutely loving this car.
Way too nice to be a hooptie. When you said hooptie I was thinking about something like this:

Congratz man.

I sold the 240 back in the '90s.
Parts were still hard to come by and the internet back then was not the marketplace that it is now, so most owners, even mechanically savvy people like myself, were at the mercy of the Volvo-specific parts and repair houses.

NOT like that now!! There is an amazing amount of stuff available for the older Volvos and the prices on most parts online at some where like IDP is lower than most US made cars on specific stuff for the older 700 and 200 series cars. There are particular parts that are pricey like some of the injectors and the 6 coil packs for my V-90 would be around $300 or so for a full set but so would be the packs for my wifes Chrysler 300M. Most Volvo Parts are pretty reasonable now days if you know where to look.
I do agree on bending over when you have to go to the Volvo dealer for parts cauze you will get reamed for SURE!
Today for example I had to replace the TPS on my V-90. It cost me $59 and took less than 10 minutes to replace.
