it's some sort of crazy trumpet I'm guessing, given that a cursory search says that guy is a big time trumpet player.

i dunno, i cant see the whole instrument, i think its one of those keyboard things you blow in, always thought that those were a children's toy though.

It's a Melodica - pretty versatile instrument actually. Look up on YouTube "gabe dixon is this love" for a great example...
