Robbie Robertson Strat

Does anybody have info on Robbertsons strat? The one he had bronzed and used in the Last Waltz?

He had moved the middle pickup and put it beside the bridge pickup, so they were on a slant and looked like a humbucker. I am curious on how it was wired, but can't find any info.

Robbie Robertson Strat - Telecaster Guitar Forum
According to this, and it's a message board, so take that into account, the pickups were wired in series.

Hm, thanks. I had read through that thread a long time ago, but not since that last post went up! Weird to see a three year old thread resurrected with something I'm interested in.

My main question is about the pickup selector - would it be some weird three way, or is it a three way? Does he have the option to have just the bridge pickup, or is it always the two together in series?

Steve Caraway: Rick Danko - Robbie Robertson
"Robbie, on your red Strat there's a small grey object right in front of the bridge pickup.

Robertson: That's the one modification that I have on my guitars. I can pull the rear knob up so the guitar is in a straight Strat pickup line; if I push it down it kicks in that rear humbucking pickup."
That leads me to believe that it's a 3-way switch with what would be technically a coil tap.
