I took two years of community college in my mid 30's. That was a very interesting experience. Being a community college I was not the only student that was older than the 18-24 demographic, but I was usually the oldest by a few years. Closer in age to most of the teachers than I was to most of the students. |
Yeah, it was Disturbed that re-made the song. I think they called it "Shout 2000" and it's on "The Sickness."
Anyway, I'm not a "non-traditional" student, but we have plenty of those at my college. In fact, I believe the average age of students here is 25 or so. I've noticed that pretty much every non-traditional student I know or have come in contact with is a very, very good student. I'm not sure why this is, but I suspect that perhaps the older we get, the more seriously we take things like school. Especially if we know we cannot afford to fail because we need to graduate ASAP and aren't able to delay graduation like a younger person would.
