so i am totally borrowing this idea from the other stringed instruments forum because i think it's great fun.
you can post links (no embedding, please!) to videos that fall under classical, jazz & world music, and if you'd like, you can include some thoughts on why the music you've linked is cool or important.
it's a great chance to enlighten and be enlightened about all sorts of music. i'm especially hoping people will post links to interesting world music. personally, i think one of the best ways to get acquainted with a culture is through their music. food is another good way, but that's a different forum.
so, here goes:
this is the
usher valse by nikita koshkin. i don't know how many other musicians around here make up stories in their heads about the music they play--as a classical guitarist, i do it quite often to help me create a sense of drama and story in a worldless piece. this particular piece was actually written for a story--
the fall of the house of usher, by e.a. poe. i find it fascinating to follow the story line in my mind as i listen to the music.
okay, next person: ready, set, GO!
