| Dont complain! You've got the best of both worlds. You can be warm or cold, which ever you'd like. Plus you dont have to worry about mainlanders bothing you.....well, except me.....but only because I mod over the whole USA.

| We are bunched together because we are the only two states that are not on the mainland! MUCH in common......even a time zone for part of us.....

| change of subject... whoa! why is it the only other alaskans posting are from ketchican? (oops, i spelled that wrong, no offense) you two friends?
i should probably do that. (!viva alaska!)
i've never been to ketchican (i don't slaughter names, i massacre them). been just about everywhere else, though, except the panhandle.
it's great to know there are more of us out there.
oh, by the way, i live in houston, up towards willow. "downtown" here consists of a gas station (that closed down), an all-purpose store, firehall, bar, some rv park, and city hall.
and for you non-alaskans, i live in a populated area |

| quasi-guide to alaska what about alaska? um, the general overview would be:
1) great place for getting away from it all, cool sights and places to explore.
2) not the place to be if you like people, (about) half the population lives in anchorage, and the rest live 80 miles from the nearest grocery store, a gas station (except for areas like seward, wasilla, and fairbanks, they're relatively "normal").
3) no one cares what style of clothes you wear, however, what style of mosquito repellant is important
4) expect to fly
5) it's hard to find a serious tree-hugger in alaska, probably because we have plenty of trees
6) never buy salmon, catch it
7) avoid large, brown mammals
8) you'll probably see more people w/ Carharts, knives, guns, and old beat up cars than you'll ever see again.
9) come in winter for skiing, snowmachining, sledding, snowshoeing, stargazing, and skating. come in summer for hiking, bikeriding, canoeing, and camping.
10) rent a 4x4, not a minivan, bring a cellphone/gps
11) we like pulling tourist's legs |
