| Yeah... it was not too noticeable because of sales taxes, health care and other costs going up. Pretty crazy how unrecognized it has been, though. |

Like the article points out, income taxes have been cut, but overall taxes have gone up.
I will honestly add though that I didn't realize taxes had gone down because before September I wasn't paying any federal taxes because I wasn't making enough money to pay them. I didn't have a reference point to see the rate change. |

And my sales-tax has stayed the same, and while my millage rate has gone up (horrible way to compute taxes), my actual property taxes look reasonably level. |

| Does it matter? We are all still paying more in taxes than when Bush was in office. And I highly doubt it'll stop increasing, he can say he's decreased taxes all he wants to, the people ain't feeling him. |

Income tax rates have maintained their levels for the last decade or so. |

Stupid politicians don't understand what they are talking about half the time cause they don't pay taxes, and they are exempt from all the stupid laws they wright, so what do they care.
Income taxes haven't changed, every other tax has increased alot, what does this mean? Taxes have gone up.

| In response to the OP, the article answers the title question. Taxes in general are up, so what does it really matter if one tax has gone down?

That being said, do you actually know how the changes in governmental taxes have affected you, or are you just throwing out rhetoric?
Even the article wallows in its own rhetoric. Apparently none of the "increases" have actually happened. What's being thrown around as "increasing" are taxes on things like tobacco and tanning that haven't taken effect and the anticipation that Bush's tax cuts will sunset. I'm not entirely sure that will actually affect me though...I think I'll remain in the same lower-middle class bracket with the same lower-middle class tax rate. |

You increase taxes on power companies they have to charge more to compensate for taxes, guess who pays that.
You put uncertainty in the market, business owners have to plan for the future, so if the future is very vague, thanks to the health care bill and the wall street reform bill, 2000+ pages each, nobody read the bills before passing them. Don't know about you, but I can fit alot of law changing language in 2000+ pages and you'll never know cause it's hidden in 2000+ pages of legal language which half of Americans can't read.
Insurance companies, same thing, they see no future for them in the market because of health care, so they have to start charging more in an attempt to compensate for the hit there going to take when the regulations hit them.
Taxes here have gone nuts, property taxes went up, gas tax went up, electricity taxes went up, utilities went up, ect. It's a domino effect, and people fail to see that, because they refuse to connect the dots cause they are too lazy. |
