| One thing I would say as well is basically take what ever strategy you used to learn the metal songs you have learned and apply that to these prerecorded versions of the songs that your band will play. Now of course your church may or may not play these songs like the exact recordings so its more of a practice thing to do by yourself. That way your learning the style of music on a set structure. Like someone said before me is that praise music is probably the easiest style to play in for the most part. (lincoln brewster solos are NOT always easy lol) The hard part of it is that you no one plays these songs the same and if anything they leave a lot of room to get creative especially if your praise band is kind of like mine where we never play the song exactly like it is recorded. So learn some songs note for note and then apply what you have learned from that with your metal playing and you will come up with something great. (I'm not saying decapitate the crowd with your gain levels) but take all your previous knowledge of guitar, blend it with what you are learning about guitar and you will be fine. God put you in this position fully knowing you have only experience in metal. In fact he has probably used that to train you for your serving right now. Good luck, have fun, and keep God first.
