| Guitar Suggestions I am going to get a new LP-style guitar. My budget is under 650. I need it by next May. Any advice? I have liked the Epi LP tribute. |

| I really have heard good things about the sound of the 57 classics, so I want a guitar with them in it. |

You've probably heard good things about those because of the GUITARS they are mounted in. Choosing a guitar for its pickups is kinda like choosing a singer for your band based on what microphone they use...

| I'd go for a good guitar, not buy something just for the pickups. Cause if you get a crap guitar with good pickups, it's still a crap guitar. Pups can be upgraded later.
I'd second the Faded suggestion. They can be spotty, so play the guitar first, but I have a SG Faded that has been great for me. |

| The only other reason is that Epi makes nice Gibson copies at a lower price. For my purposes, that would work perfectly. |

They routinely go under this price point on cl and ebay.

| I have heard about the ESP LP copies. I have not heard a bad thing about them. Are they really as good as everyone says? |

Yes they are. You'll love the SD Jr and the 59', highly recommended pickups by a lot of guitarists for a wide range of music. The only thing is you have to try one first before you buy, since ESP LTD have a unique type of neck, similar to the way an Ibanez feels, nothing like a Gibson though. |

| The Ibanez shred-necks or Ibanez ART-necks? I have played an ART doublecut and an ART100. |

| Prolly a mix of both, I'm not sure I could categorize it, but I'm a Fender strat man myself, and I personally like the feel of ESP/LTD's. |

| PRS SE Single Cut or Tokai - both are better than most real Les Pauls these days. Gibson QC being what it is and all. |

Gibson doesn't have bad quality control, their guitars are handmade, with no machines, so the necks are never consistent, cause 2 hand made necks will never be exactly the same. So people assume that Gibson has horrible quality control simply because they don't understand how Gibson's are made. Most popular guitars like PRS and Ibanez are machine made, so every neck is consistent. People are used to consistent.
So if your searching for a Gibson Les Paul, you have to try a bunch of them until you find the one that fits in your hands right. |
