| Ever Have One Of Those Days? Ever have one of those days that for some reason you were just incapable of playing guitar? I just got my guitar back from having the frets leveled, bends like butter, had to redo the action and intonation cause it was all messed up, then rerecorded a song I've been working on, did the rhythm just fine, but absolutely could not play the lead, like I was incapable of playing it, like my fingers didn't want to work. Rough day
Anybody else ever have a day like that? |

| When I'm having a bad day, something my Grandma used to say always pops in my head. "This too shall pass". And something I picked up somewhere pops in my head also and that is "What a difference a day makes". One day can be really bad but you go to bed, wake up and all is changed. Praise God. |

| I don't care if it is playing guitar, golf, softball, painting, or any other hobby/activity, there are going to be days where it feels like you have never picked up a guitar before. To me it is the ultimate in frustration. Don't think I could ever break a guitar, but it sure is tempting in a moment like that. I ofcourse have to blame to tool and not the mechanic. Ha! |

| I've had that day on stage. It's rough, but, you got to just play through it.

| I had a day like that last Thursday night at band practice. My rig was sounding like muffled garbage and I couldn't figure out why. It became enough of a distraction that I started missing notes and riffs. As my confidence dissipated, I just got worse. To make it worse our youth pastor was there to hear the songs we will be playing for D-Now. He just thought I was nervous and kept complimenting the band.
When I was taking down my rig at the end of the night I realized that I had plugged my amp into the wrong output of my modeler. It was plugged into the output I have reserved for the mixing console which has a speaker simulator called Metal Stack assigned to it and a different EQ and reverb. Plugging that straight into an amp sounds like a loose flatulent mess (think chili cook-off at a nursing home). As a sanity check I hooked up correctly for a quick sound check. There was my sound, nice and tight. Grrr.
It has always amazed me how having a great sound can make you play better and having a bad sound can make you suck. It might not be true for everyone, but it's true for me. |

| I sing better when my guitar is in tune. And I play more confidently. I'm anal about it too. If it's just a little off, it's distracting to me. Although I think there is just a tiny bit of wiggle room as to what's in tune and what's not. Heehehe. I've heard it said that no guitar is completely in tune. The 3rd string likes to mess with me a lot though. Especially because there's something with the tuning head that never allows it to be smoothy tuned up or down. It pops a lot of times when doing even just fine tuning. |
