| There aren't many "chain" restaurants here locally, so, by default, we usually do eat at local restaurants. And I wouldn't have it any other way. There is a mexican place that is kind of a dive, but has the best carne asada tacos. Authentic, good food, we choose it over Azteca any and every time. The local greek restaurant, best gyros ever, not to mention our Indian place. Y.U.M. And our diner has great flat-top burgers and sandwiches. But there are times when something specifically sounds good. Like, the Whiskey River BBQ burger at Red Robin. That's almost always when we go to chains...because there is something specific that sounds really good, and whether we go to RR in Portland, Vancouver, Seattle or LA, it will be the same and we know that "craving" for that particular item will be satisfied.
And, as far as fast food chains go, local places don't usually have "dollar menus" and when you are living on an extreme budget and in a pinch, Wendy's dollar menu means Chris and I can eat for $6 and it is totally decent and fills our stomachs. |
