when im playing a progresion

say in the key of B (have not yet said majoir or minor and no i dont mean minor)

what sound do i want?

B majoir is happy and all

maybe i want a blues sound?
b7 it is

maybe i want to use minor?
what if i used a suspended B to give it flavor?

this is the use of it

it helps me alot

for exsample

i want to play in the key of C

but i have not yet picked which
type

i can make it mjoir minor 7th and millions more

that is the advanage

in stead of thinking evrey chords its own

think of it a dfreint sound for the same chord
in other words B

You might be the only person I've ever met that thinks this way Shawn. When I sit down to write a song and I play a Bmajor, then decide I want a minor feel instead, I play a G#minor.

This makes my head hurt. If you want to play in "the key of B" (as you said above) and you play a B minor you're NOT playing in "the key of B". There is NOT a B minor in "the key of B".

I meant to close this last night.

Dave does not need a lesson in basic theory. Such is insulting. He is a far more qualified instructor than most.

Shawn, learn to respect musicians who know far more than you. Dave is a really great musician who knows his stuff. You are a n00b comparatively. Heck, you are a music n00b compared to me, and I am a n00b compared to Dave.
