I use dude commonly, but then again, I'm 19.

If you are going to use dude in replacement in a sentence, you do not have to capitalize dude. Considering you can replace a proper name with you, you can replace you with dude.
For instance:
Hey, Jon, what's up?
Hey, you, what's up?
Hey, dude, what's up?
See what I did there? I made it unnecessary for a proper noun and capitalization.
And seeing as no one really knows whether or not you were going to start the sentence with the proper noun, of your name, there is no reason to capitalize dude by replacing it, since it would be replacing the pronoun of you anyways.
And that is my fast and easy way to get around doing things in grammar I don't like. |

(I am not sure if that is still the case anywhere.) I believe this is actually where we get the convention on God. But in recent years, capitalizing pronouns related to God is increasingly frowned upon.

Like is the dude's name really Dude? |
