Do you like the sound in other artists' hands? I gotta point right to SRV or Mark Knopfler, you know?

I love me some Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Jimi, Stevie, etc. and I'll play a Strat IF I'm trying to reproduce their stuff. But other truth be told I really can't stand a Strat in my own hands for the music that I enjoy playing the most.

I have played and bought several Les Paul and PRS style guitars and have returned them all. I just need a Strat. |

| I'm that way with PRS. I know... GASP!, Mike's a lunatic
No, but for reals, I have yet to be blown away by a PRS sound from me. I've since stopped trying. However, the Mira might get me to try again. I love the build concept enough. Maybe enough to pull one off a wall. They are not just another body style.
Anyway, I'm glad someone else has this realization. Maybe it IS in the fingers! Whatever it is.

| it's interesting even though the tone is in the fingers, everyone seems to find guitars they're comfortable with. I definitely feel the most comfortable on my MIJ LP, and recently on strats.

If you go the x3l route, just plan to spend a lot of time figuring it out. I tried figuring the one at church out and ended up just using my pedal board into the amp emulator. | I tried the GT2 and used it for a couple of sundays.
It's a lot better than my rig straight in to the house without the GT2, But.....
It's still not a mic'd amp tone. Not really that close. Maybe I'm a cork sniffer, but i know what I like and that's not it.
I heard from a very reliable source in the biz that the X3 Live is being discontinued and the new Line 6 HD 300, 400, and 500 processors are due to be in stores next month. The HD 500 will be the same price as the X3 Live so why buy a discontinued model for 499.99?
I'm seing if they will knock a couple of hundred off the asking price. |
