Magic Trackpad

So i bought Apple's new Magic Trackpad this week. Simply put, I totally love it. It is so easy to use and I find it easier than using a mouse. The multi-touch features are really nice too.

check it out: Apple - Magic Trackpad - The Multi-Touch trackpad for your desktop.

I'm a big fan of the magic mouse as well. I would love to see more support for both in the OS I use (win7).

I know MS can do it... the ZuneHD supports multi-touch and gestures pretty well.

Wow. I can not imagine enjoying using that. It is a good idea, though.

I'm with you, Art. The touchpad on my laptop is annoying, just much less so than a mouse.

Wow, that's pretty cool. I really like the Multi-touch on my new MacBook, and I'm not even a trackpad person.

Is this really a current event though?

You guys must not know what using an Apple multitouch trackpad is like. They're a dream to use, especially if you use a program called BetterTouchTool to customize all the multitouch gestures. Doesn't replace a mouse in every instance, but darn more useful. It's practically replaced a ton of keyboard shortcuts for me.

I definitely second that. When I first got my Macbook Pro, I thought one of the first accessories I was going to buy would be a mouse. However, I have fallen in love with the trackpad on my Mac. It's a dream to use, and I find I miss it when I sit down at a computer than doesn't have it. I don't think I would buy a Magic Trackpad, because it's a bit large for my taste, but it is a very good product.

I'd really like to see a laptop with a multi-touch display supporting these gestures. More natural than a pad. Add a magic-mouse and it's near interface nirvana.

You are correct. I have no idea. I don't like trackpads at all, so I have not exactly been itching to try one. I am now intrigued, though.

The Magic Trackpads are cool, but that is a pretty hefty price tag for what it is. Of course, we are talking about Apple.

I'd be keen to have one if I didn't have to pay, cause I really quite like the touchpad on the macbook we have.

So basically it looks good, but not compelling enough for me to spend money on it yet.

Speaking of trackpads - Does anyone else's trackpad on their macbook get stuck i.e. keeps highlighting stuff on the screen when you move the mouse about - and you can't get it to stop doing it no matter how much you click?

Go to Trackpad under your System Preferences. Do you have One Finger > Tap To Click > Drag Lock enabled?

We had tap to click and dragging enabled but not drag lock. (I think that's right). Turned dragging off and we'll see how we go.

Is it a software issue or something up with the hardware (if this does fix the problem)?
