He's right. I used to work in the billing office of a hospital and I saw tens of THOUSANDS of dollars written off of patients accounts because of hardship. Call the billing office of the hospital ASAP and ask them about any sort of assistance program. You most likely will need to give them copies of bank account statements and other personal information, but it is well worth it and just like your medical information, they handle it with the utmost confidentiality.
