I gave it up about 5 years ago due mostly to time constraints and maybe a little because of finances. Recently my 15 year old son expressed an interest in it. Just before I left for work last month we found a couple sets of clubs for cheap at garage sales. We didn't have time to play a round, but I'm really looking forward to it next time I'm home.
I love par 3 courses. I've always felt I had a pretty good short game. I tend to try a little too hard from the tee and have consistency issues so shorter courses fit better with my game.
I used to live on the Oregon coast where you are really limited by weather but I think the courses there are probably as beautiful as anywhere. Now I live on the Texas Gulf coast, so I know the "experience" of going and playing a round is going to be way different. |

| I've golfed a few times using my dad's clubs, but I can't say I'm much of a golfer. I do enjoy it a lot and I'll be out this summer, but I can't seem to fix my drives. I slice way too much.

| I play every once in a while. I have crappy clubs right now, but recently I used my Dad's clubs. He has burner irons and a burner driver. I tore up the course with those clubs. I shot an 86 with at least 11 3-putts (I hadn't played in over a year so my putting was way off, usually I can putt a little better).

Do a quick internet search on the subject and you'll see the "experts" estimate that only 20-30% of the people that play the game will break 100 on a regulation par 70 course, so shooting in the 80s is phenomenal. Of course even if it was an easy/short course, I'm not disparaging your accomplishment, that's a great score anywhere and we play to have a good time right? The regulation courses that I've played have mostly been on the easy side. I don't enjoy being in the rough and being frustrated all day I usually play 9 holes and am happy with low 50's. My goal is to play a bogey round which of course would be 44 over 9 holes on a decent course. |

It definitely wasn't a par 3 course, lol. I would say it was a course of average difficulty - par 72. I have thought about playing semi-pro, just don't have the time or money currently. If I ever have $1,000 to spend on some nicer clubs and to enter a tournament, I will. I am actually moving to an apartment that is on a resort that has a really nice course, and I got a membership. So hopefully I will get to play more.
Yeah, I know it's frustrating to scramble and play from the rough. If you can find a course that is wide-open and doesn't really have much rough golf gets a lot more fun, lol.

You're in a league I don't think I'll ever be in. You should have a monster game after living on a course for a while. |
