| New Bass Coming Soon! So, I have officially gotten rid of the Warmoth body of mine.
I loved it to death, but really haven't played it in over a year, and I sold the neck about four months ago so there really was no reason for me to keep it.
I won't say just what it is yet (if you're on my facebook you know... keep quite!), but I will say the following:
1) I played one of these basses for the first time in LA a few months back. I fell in love with it.
2) It's a Fender
3) This model was only made for 10 years. This particular one was made 13 years before I was born.
4) It is ugly as sin. If not uglier. One of the previous owners did a horrible refinish job on it, so I will have to do that and am quite excited about it! |

| It is pretty darn ugly. I think there is no flattering color to make that bass. As long as you like it, though. |

| I think it will be alright.
Sonic blue, white pick guard, new knobs...should look good, I think.
At the very least, I know I love the sound/feel of these basses and it will be my first refinish attempt, so it'll be fun! |

I've got an idea...one question (which will solidify my guess), is it short scale? |

It must have something really nice. | I had already sold the neck for the bass and have been trying to sell the body for months now, so I found a trade I liked and I took it.
I love the bass I'm getting and normally they go for around a grand, but due to the mad grossness of the bass the guy I'm getting it from picked it up for about $300.
My chances of finding this bass in a price range I could afford in the next long time was slim, so I am taking a knock on the 'value' but in the end, value is very subjective. Quote: |

| Ahhh, I love my shorties. Nothing to refinishing one, really. Of course I do cheapo paint jobs on mine. But they turn out pretty good. Nothing at all wrong with saving money and doing work yourself.
Here's the one I'm most proud of. It actually started life as a Telecaster guitar. I has a shortscale neck. |

| This will be my first refinish, do you have a link to any tutorial/paint brand you used with good results? |

| I haven't used Reranch but folks say it's really great. The green bass above is painted with either Krylon or Rustoleum rattle cans that I got at Wal-Mart. I think it was Rustoleum. I don't like the Krylon as well for guitars. It has held up well. I used Minwax clear spray over the paint. It yellows just enough to make it look aged. I did a white one that has the clear that shows the aging better. The pic above was taken just after it was finished.
And here's the white one: |

I think I am most likely going to go reranch, but haven't decided yet.
ANd to answer the question slap_j asked me in a UC... nope, that's not it. |

| UPDATE:
The bass left St. Paul at 9:04 PM!
Google maps puts the trip from St Paul to Winnipeg at just over 8 hours... I'm not sure how fast FedEx drivers drive, but I've done it in a decent amount less then that.
Fingers crossed for a smooth trip through the border and a new bass tomorrow when I get home from work!
Also, the guy didn't have time to properly pack a box, so he loaded up a SKB flight case with bubble wrap and stuff and sent it that way, so looks like I get a nice case with it, too!
BAM! |

| First off: Gah! At noon it left a city about three and a half from mine.
Why is it not here today?
Petty was right...the waiting is the hardest part! Quote:

And a Coronado is what it most certainly is not.
But I wish it was... I've been jonsing for a Coronado II for some time now. Quote:

Okay, the real reason is because I got this through a trade, and even thought I have a package being sent my way, until the moment it gets here and I have it in my hand, I still have slight doubt it's coming.
If I say what it is and it gets here then I realize guy shipped me a case filled with rocks and I'm all 'hey look at my rocks!' and everybody is all 'that's not a [insert my bass name here]!'
If nobody (besides you facebookers) knows what it is, then I can just pretend what ever I get is actually what I wanted. |
