It's a rumor that's been going around since before the iPhone 3G was launched back in 2008. Give me a break people, until there's a legitimate news site like NYT, etc reporting, or a tech site like ArsTechnica that has actual cited sources, it's a myth & legend.

The truth is, there's more chance on winning powerball tonight than there is having a Verizon iPhone before 2012.

If you honestly think AT&T is going to subsidize tons of iPhone sales right before Apple opens the floodgates to other carriers you're crazy

Honestly I'd love to see Apple release a CDMA version as well as the GSM stuff, because there's no reason they couldn't do AT&T/TMO with one, and VZW/Sprint with the other. They'd probably see even more marketshare (like they are in Europe) than they are now. Right now, even though no single phone is outpacing the iPhone, Android based devices are outpacing iPhone sales.

AT&T is the only 'weak network' that has a subsidized iPhone that I know of. Also, the USA is the only country without an unlocked option available for iPhones.

I say that Sprint is unlikely because of their financial situation, and the fact that they are a tiny network.

T-Mobile, maybe.

But still, I'll believe a Verizon iPhone when I can hold one in my hands.

Nothing that can't be healed when dollar signs are involved.
