My laptop...

Is about 10 years old. Here's a PCWorld review of it. MicronPC TransPort LT - PCWorld Sold for $2400 new. I paid $30 used. It still works, has been upgraded to Windows XP. Still works wonderfully. Well, about as wonderfully as a 700 MHz PIII with 128mb of RAM can.

Anybody else have ancient computers that still work?

I'm a big fan of old hardware. My laptop is a 5 year old Panasonic CF-51 Toughbook. It looks like these also sold new for over $2000, but I got it for free. 1.7Ghz, just upgraded to 2GB of RAM, running Ubuntu 10.04 beautifully. I also just built a MythTV box using an HP D530, which is probably about 6 years old. The oldest computer we have is an old PowerMac from 1996. It still runs, but theres not much it can do anymore so it never gets used.

My first desktop was a Compaq with a K6-II @ 667 Mhz. Still runs great with Windows 98.

Toughbooks tend to hold their value, as do Macs.

Hey, I have a K6-II machine. Missing a hard drive, but it did run XP. Horribly.
