MacBook Screen Problem

I'm looking at a macbook on ebay right now. The seller says:

Also, the backlight on the monitor occasionally shuts off. I don't know why but if you close the machine, then open it up, it usually comes back on. This is a known issue with some MacBooks.

I know that Apple will replace the faulty palm-rests for free, do they do this for the screen as well? If so, could someone link me to where they talk about this? (i'm not ever sure where to starting looking on their website)

google search? If it's a known issue, I am sure there will be some documentation.

Yeah, I decided not to buy it. I asked him what version it was and it was the mid-07 version... and I said "er... nope"

the backlight shuts off automatically after not using it for a few minutes to conserve battery life. I wonder if he was getting an ID10T error in the chair-keyboard interface?

My backlight will shutoff when not being used for a few minutes but comes right back on by pushing either the power button (which does not reboot, just brings the screen back up) or by clicking the touch pad button.
