World Cup '10

Who else is excited about the world cup?

I'm loving the fact that everytime a German, Ghanian or Serbian gets injured it's massive news - and a sure sign that we should now beat them.

I am going to move this over to Sports, since it is a universal/worldwide topic.

And something on the topic... Apparently Adidas always introduces a new ball with the latest technology for the WC... This year, there are a lot of players very unhappy with the ball. 2010 World Cup: Ball design for World Cup draws criticism from position players, goalkeepers - ESPN Soccernet

I've become more and more a fan of soccer lately. I am very excited to watch the World cup this year. I don't care if the US is good or not, I will probably watch every game that is on TV, as I work from home and there is a TV right here!

Finally. The World Cup will be a nice distraction from the silly season. Can't wait.

Go the Aussies!

I'm not really a soccer fan generally but everything changes in the World Cup. Have to get up nice and early - 430am game on Monday morning, but hopefully I'll be able to survive!

I'm a huge soccer fan. I'm pumped for the U.S. team this year. Even with Davies out and Oguchi Onyewu coming off injury I really like the team they put together this time. There are a lot of great matchups in the group stage, too. My DVR is going to be full.

If Capello partners Rooney with Heskey, and play Carragher in the right, which he'll probably do since he prefers experience, and he wouldn't have brought him out of international retirement if he wasn't guaranteed playing time, then you guys should have a better chance.

I think there's a ton of injuries this year.

I also think that spain has a great shot at it this time around, but again... so many injuries on so many teams, its going to be interesting. This is like a world cup minus half of the stars that people around the world know.

Im amped to see the turnout of the mexico/south africa game tomorrow. And amped thats its finally here.

Realistically, I'd be happy with a draw. I don't think that's out of the question, especially in light of the U.S. having the advantage with goalkeepers.
