Can't believe I watched my first entire soccer game only to see my team lose. I feel like I have wasted my life.

Seems like most Dutch fans are up in arms over the non-calls on the second Robben breakaway and the deflection out of bounds by a Spanish player on Sneijder's free kick just before the goal. Should have been a corner for the Oranje, turns into a goal for Spain. I wish I could care more, but I don't. Maybe if Canada ever has a team...

The complaints are bogus; the ref called a pretty good game. Any game like that is going to have a couple missed calls, especially when some players are diving.

That said, this should have been an automatic red card.

Oh, I think you mean ALL players. lol. Is there this much diving and flopping and such in regular season soccer? Like MLS or whatever? Or is it some kind of World Cup Syndrome?

For reals. That was a full darn contact game out there.

All I have to say is three things..

1. The Spanish were a bunch of sissies on the field right from the beginning. C'mon, you're really gonna roll on the ground in pain when someone steps on your foot?

2. De Jong should have been red carded.

3. This was an entertaining match

Ugh Spain. Spain was just such a boring team to watch. It's like watching the Spurs win a championship. If I'm going to see the team I don't like win I'd at least prefer it to be someone exciting.

Switzerland was the only team to beat them, so that means Switzerland is the best team...right?

Ramos was pretty entertaining.. he was really the only guy who pressed for a goal. he had two opportunities in the first few minutes to score.. he missed both but at least he was actually trying..

Uh, yes. Yes, you are going to be in pain. Especially if that person is a fit soccer player who is wearing cleats and doesn't just step on your foot, but RUNS onto it. It hurts, and I do not think there was as much diving in this game as others do.

I enjoyed watching this match. I thought soccer was a boring game to watch until I started playing it. Now that I can appreciate great passing and defending I am entertained for the full 90+ minutes, not just when there's a breakaway, free kick or corner kick (i.e. scoring opportunity).

Also, I'm happy for Paul.

Dear world cup. Thanks for all the fun, but I'm glad we can be without vuvuzelas for 4 years.

I'm talking about one specific play where Holland missed an attempt to steal the ball and stepped on Spain's toes. In slow motion (btw, slow motion on penalties is the best lol) Spain curled up into a ball and writhed in pain as he hit the ground... i thought soccer players were a little more manly than that.. but then again, these guys are from Europe.. lol jk!!

No, seriously, it hurts a ton to get stepped on with cleats. Trust me, I'm a pretty tough guy, but I will collapse into that same ball and writhe in pain when I get stepped on in soccer. I still have a badly bruised toe from this last season that still hurts when it gets touched.

Yeah, these aren't the cleats we used in little league, either. Metal spikes. Ouch.
