It is the first compressor I have ever really bonded with. I use it particularly in conjunction with a host of other effects to give me some really synthy sounds. |
I had one of those for a while. It's a great compressor! I had one of the first release gold hand painted ones.

Best advice ever
I love compressors and I find so many different uses for mine. My four main ways of using one are as follows:
1) as a boost to push my amp into overdrive. This seems to work best with Vox style amps and telecasters
2) to goose other pedals, smooth out OD pedals, freak out fuzz pedals and even out the volume dips from my wah and deja-vibe.
3) to squish my tone for lots of snap and attack when playing country, funk or other really percussive styles
4) as a cheat to give myself more sustain when I'm in a situation where I have to be too quiet to get my amp pushed properly
I think when you learn to use it well it can be one of the most useful tools on a board. I've been through a few and I keep coming back to my old MXR Dyna-Comp. It's cheap and it works perfect with a tele and Vox combo.
