| Wyoming has open carry and doesn't require a special licence. Only three states have a lower number of gun homicides per 100,000 people. Of course that's only one dimension of the issue.

| My feeling is that without open-carry laws, it becomes harder for law-abiding citizens to defend themselves against criminals who may or may not care whether its legal to openly carry weapons or not.

| fwiw, that list isn't complete. Washington State is ambiguously open carry, but it is legal though there are restrictions (you need a permit to carry in a vehicle, open or concealed. etc). OpenCarry.org - A Right Unexercised is a Right Lost!
People claimed it would be a bloodbath if people CC'ed too. Not to mention that criminals will still CC their weapons because OC'ers get stopped and talked to by LEO's all the time. meh. |

| Colorado is also an open-carry state. I open-carried for a bit and then switched when I got my CCW.

| Still, the point is that half of the states are open carry. So I don't see that it would make much difference in Texas. And if it doesn't make much difference, then I so no point in restricting it. |
