I am intrigued by this "one knob" you speak of.

well cool, if i can add a simple fx loop for say 200 dollars that really opens up my choices.

I like a alot of amps but because i believe in tube distortion and post amp delay for my hill song like worship stuff and Fx loop really is necesary for me even more so if the amp doesnt have built in reverb and i have to use a pedal.

Why not get a single channel amp with reverb?

Meh, I run my delay before the amp. It sounds great. I'm more pleased with my tone from my Nighttrain (no effects loops) than I ever was with my B52 that had an effects loop.

Effects loops are only really necessary if you plan on having a ton of preamp gain.

Bingo...this is why it makes a difference in terms of what the OP is going for with his basic sound. If I was recommending a Fender BF or tweed style single channel amp, then I would say an effects loop wasn't necessary. If I was recommending a Marshall JCM-style or other high gain amp, then I can more readily see the need for a loop.

Yes Yes Yes... This is right on. I like preamp gain, even in amps not meant to give a lot of gain. To me it adds character and soul. If that makes sense.

So does anyone know of any other amps that are single channel with an effects loop

I am going to say this...

But until you define the sound you are looking for, this thread is worthless.

FRENZEL Tube Amps

Just go there. There isn't anything high gain there, but since the amps are custom built, get what you want in it. (Some of the amps go to fairly moderate gain. I own the discontinued champ pro, and a hotbox wildcat.)

I think getting no channel switchers is tying your arm behind a back for a fight. A lot of great amps are channel switchers, including ones where anybody only ever uses one channel. Get one, remove the footswitch and call it good. And if there is no control to set it to your one channel, have a plug hardwired that jumpers it where the footswitch goes.

I might suggest getting a Jet city 20 watter and getting an effects loop put in. Though, they claim they will be putting one out soon. Though, it might be a channel switcher.

c'mon Dropkick, you do care a little about wattage. Five, or one hundred? Bedroom or festival? Something in between? I'm very impressed with those who are spending their time trying to help you with this.
